This building on State Highway 3 in Warea was built for Alec Binnie in 1898.
Until 1949 it acted as both a general store and post office for the local community. The concrete facades were added in 1949 by Cyril Moss, also owner of the Pungarehu Store.
It continued to trade successfully for many years until declining rural population and competition from New Plymouth supermarkets resulted in its closure some years ago.
