This bungalow was constructed for Daniel Penwarden in 1918.

A permit was granted by the Borough Council to Penwarden on 22 January 1918 for the construction of a residence on Pt 4 Shaws Estate - Boon Bros were the builders, and the estimated construction cost was £750. An earlier permit was also granted to Penwarden on 20 November 1917, this was for the construction of a garage and washhouse on Lot 28, Kitchener Terrace, with Penwarden himself the builder, and the estimated construction cost being £50.

Penwarden had leased his farm at Omata around the same time he moved to this house - although he doesn't appear to have lived here long, last appearing as living in this location in the 1920 edition of Wises Street Directory.
