1 Gaine Street (circa 1900s)

Very little is currently known about the history of this cottage but based on its style it was probably constructed in the early 1900s.

However, this is not the original location of this cottage, and it is thought to have been shifted to this site in the 1980s from another location in New Plymouth - The cottage is not present on this section in a 1958 White's Aviation aerial photograph.

The original location of the cottage is unknown, although a number of similar cottages were located in areas such as Molesworth Street, and were either demolished or moved to other sites to allow for the construction of commercial premises in the 1970s-90s period.
