A permit was granted by the Borough Council to E. L. Dowling on 6 October 1934 for the construction of a house on Town Section 395, Fulford Street – W. H. Aburn was the builder, Alworth (?) the plumber, and the estimated construction cost was £869.

Music teacher and well-known violinist Evelyn Love Dowling (1888-1972) lived in the house, then known as Stradholme, from at least 1938 until shortly before her death in 1972.
