A permit for a residence on Town Section 1630, Pendarves Street, was granted by the Borough Council on 22 June 1921 - the owner and architect/contractor was J. Jenkinson and the estimated construction cost was £1200.
This is one of the first homes to be constructed in the English Cottage Style in New Plymouth in the 1920s. This style would be the dominant design for two-story homes for the next two decades.
