A permit was granted by the Borough Council to William Henry Taylor on 7 May 1927 for the construction of a house on Lot 4 of Section 77, Darnell Street – H. Rowe was the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £730.
Taylor was a NP Borough Tramways employee and lived very close to his work - the Fitzroy Tram Barns were located on the corner of Devon and Darnell Streets, on the present site of the car yard.
Whilst 14 Darnell Street has been heavily modified, it is now one of only a few bungalows left on the street.
