A permit was granted by the New Plymouth Borough Council to Mrs W. Kerr on 30 July 1925 for the construction of a house on Part Town Section 769 (mistake - should be Town Section 770), Bulteel Street – Jones and Sandford were the builders, and the estimated construction cost was £1200.
Noted New Plymouth architect Thomas Herbert Bates designed the home - NPDC holds copies of the original plans, and tenders were advertised in the Taranaki Herald in mid-May 1925.
