75_Carrington_Street_2017.JPG 1/75 Carrington Street. Hamish Crimp (2017).

This large villa may have been constructed for Fred Asher around 1897. He is first listed as living in Vogeltown in the 1898-99 edition of the Wises Street Directory, with later editions confirming this location on Carrington Street (then called Victoria Road).

Fred Asher was an accountant with the firm Burgess, Fraser & Co. He and his family moved to Auckland in 1920, and he died suddenly in March 1930.

The design of the villa may indicate that Frank Messenger was the architect.
