A permit was granted to F. W. Sutton on 14 June 1927 for the construction of a house on Lot 3, of Subdivision 2, Town Belt Section I, Wallace Place - Boon Bros were the builders, and the estimated construction cost was £1565.
The home was designed by noted New Plymouth architect Thomas Herbert Bates, who called for tenders for the construction of a residence in Wallace Place in late May 1927.
A large Copper Beech tree was removed during 2017, and what was presumably the original concrete fence was replaced with a wooden one in 2018.
