A permit was granted by the Borough Council to A. Adam on 20 February 1922 for the construction of a residence on Part Section Q Gaine Street - J. Gifford was the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £900.
The home was designed by noted New Plymouth architecture practice Messenger, Griffiths and Taylor, with the original plans for the home held by Puke Ariki: ARC2008-179.
The front porch has been enclosed, but the rest of the exterior of the home is in largely original condition.
On the evening of Monday 20 August 2018, a tornado damaged the roof of the bungalow, with several sheets of corrugated steel torn off.
