This villa was one of two similar homes constructed on Town Section 1317 by New Plymouth plumber Alfred Twine in 1911. Two permits were issued to Twine, although it's unclear which permit relates to this home, and which one relates to the villa that once stood at 46 Buller Street. The two permits are as follows:
A permit was granted by the Borough Council to Mrs A. Twine on 12 December 1910 for the construction of a residence on Pt Town Section 1317, Buller Street – A. Twine was the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £275.
A permit was granted by the Borough Council to A. Twine on 6 February 1911 for the construction of a residence on Town Section 1317, Buller Street – A. Twine was the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £275.
