This box cottage with bullnose veranda was constructed in 1908 for timber firm Henry Brown & Co, whose premises were located nearby on the corner of Morley and Hine Streets; the builder/architect was H. George.

On 18 July 1908 a building permit was issued by the Borough Council for a cottage on Town Section 28, with the value estimated at £299.

H. Brown & Co sold the cottage soon after construction in March 1909 to John Urry who lived here until his death in 1945.
