Bridger Residence, 96 Lemon Street. Hamish Crimp (2019).
This bay villa was constructed for Edward Hunt during 1902-03. The house was sold to Mr James
Bridger of Eltham in 1903, and it remained his residence until his death in 1939.
The eastern portion of Town Section 1605 was sold to Edward Hunt during the 1902-03 rating year. It appears that the house was built soon after and in October 1903 it was reported that Messrs Carthew & Company had sold during the month of September "Mr Hunt's pretty residence situated in Lemon Street, to Mr Bridger, of Eltham."
It seems that James Bridger had retired to New Plymouth and following his death on 21 August 1939 was buried in nearby Te Hēnui Cemetery.
