This bungalow was constructed in 1920 for Arthur Frederick Sandford of longstanding local building and joinery firm Jones & Sandford. However, Sandford only occupied the house for a short time (about a year), before relocating to the house at present 21 George Street, Vogeltown.

The property was soon purchased by Bedford Bulmer, who first appears as living in this location in the 1922 edition of Stones Street Directory; he only resided here for a short period before his death on 2 August 1926, aged 84 years. The property remained in the Bulmer family for several decades, with Philip Alma Bulmer residing here until his death on 17 September 1956, aged 70 years.
