This large home in the English Cottage Style was constructed for Dr A. R. Andrews in 1925. The building was designed by well-known local architecture firm Messenger, Griffiths and Taylor, who advertised for tenders in late September 1925.

A permit was granted to Dr A. R. Andrews on 15 October 1925 for the construction of a house on Part V, Wallace Place - A. O. Brown was the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £1800.

It is one of several large English Cottage Style homes located on Wallace Place and Barrett Street - many are former doctors' residences.

The front fence of this property has on several occasions fallen victim to drivers who have failed to negotiate the corner of Morley Street and Wallace Place.
