This large two-story home in the 'Arts and Crafts Style' was constructed in 1923 for New Plymouth architect Andrew Dunlop. The Dunlop family occupied the home until 1969.

A permit was granted to 'Dunlop' on 3 January 1923 for the construction of a house on part section 12, Devon Street West - Boon Bros were the builders, and the estimated construction cost was listed as £1500.
