A permit was granted by the Borough Council to Cornelius Hannan on 8 January 1923 for the construction of a house on Pt R (mistake), Gaine Street – C. H. Arnold was the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £800.
Cornelius was a partner in prominent New Plymouth firm Darby & Hannan Ltd, whose premises still stand in Devon Street East.
