This bungalow was originally the home of ironmonger Leslie Robert Little and his family. Leslie had married Miss Isabel Clara Ward in 1908, and they first lived in a now-demolished house on Lot A of Sections 27-29, Part Town Belt C, corner George Street and Victoria Road (present 24 George St and 66 Victoria Rd).
In 1914 they had the present house at 22 George Street constructed and moved in during 1915. A permit was granted to Leslie Little on 19 November 1914 for the construction of a house on Lot B, George Street - the estimated construction cost was £598.
Leslie and Isabel lived at 22 George Street for the rest of their lives, with Leslie passing away on 20 November 1942 and Isabel on 26 June 1957; both are buried in Te Hēnui Cemetery.
