This building on the flat in Devon Street East (south-side) was built in 1927 for the firm, J. Lobb & Co. A building permit was issued on 12 October 1927 for a commercial building on Town Section 918. It was built by Boon Bros. for an estimated cost of £1,480. It was designed by the well-known local firm Messenger, Griffiths & Taylor, who called for tenders in early October 1927.
A number of buildings in this section of Devon Street East were demolished in order to erect The Warehouse complex. The Lobb Building was one of the first buildings demolished to make way for the new retail development.
