This home is based on 'Design 588', by Auckland firm Hanson Construction - the original design used for the construction of 1 Massey Street is held by Puke Ariki: ARC2013-1563.
A permit was granted by the Borough Council to L. M. (Lionel Moran) Ward on 23 September 1936 for the construction of a residence on part Sections 11, 12 & 13 (Dartmoor Estate), corner of Massey Street and Sanders Avenue - Harold Rowe was the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £1438.
