A permit was granted by the New Plymouth Borough Council on the 25th of May 1926 for the construction of a house on Section 16, Calvert Road (later re-named Lyn Street) - Williamson was the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £500.

Walter Cecil Williamson had earlier purchased the section from the Crown for £65 after they decided it was no longer required for state housing purposes.

The house became the first home of Walter and his wife Ruth (nee Palmer), who were married during 1926.
