This is a co-operating church serving Anglicans and Presbyterians. It was opened and dedicated on 11 November 1973 by Archbishop Johnston and the Revd. W.B. Watt, Director of the Presbyterian Ministry Committee.
It replaced St. Michael's & All Angels (Anglican) and St Margaret's Church (Presbyterian) which were both located in Bideford Street.
The architect was F. John Bowering, who also designed several other New Plymouth churches. The estimated cost was $50 - 60,000 and the building has a floor area of 1,097 sq. metres. The main worship area was designed to hold 200 people.
