St Andrew's Church Hall faces Courtenay Street and stands just down from the Liardet Street corner. St Andrew's Presbyterian Church is adjacent to the hall.
The foundation stone for the hall was laid on 8 November 1952 by the Rt. Rev James Baird.
A building permit was issued for the hall on 10 December 1953. The builders were Roebuck Construction, and the estimated cost was £20,790. It is thought the architects were the firm, Taylor & Syme.
It was opened and dedicated on 11 September 1954 by the Rt. Rev J.L. Gray, Moderator of the General Assembly.
An old house, built in 1898 for the then postmaster, Mr F.D. Holdsworth, was demolished in 1951 to make way for the new hall. The twin-gabled residence is just visible on the far right of this image of St. Andrew's Church, taken about 1940.
