The Anglican Chapel of St Saviour's in Princess Street, Waitara was built in 1927.

The Māori Mission was at this time under the direction of the Auckland Māori Church. Reverend K. Hadfield was largely responsible for raising the funds required to construct the chapel.

In the 1970s Reverend Kaa traveled from Te Kuiti every 3rd Sunday to conduct services. It's not known how frequently services are held at present.
