"Timata Ora" (55 Gover Street) was erected as maternity home in 1928 by Boon Brothers for Sister S. E. Ellis. The architect was Thomas H. Bates and a building permit for the house was issued to Sister Ellis in August 1928 - the estimated cost was £2250. In December 1928 advertisements appeared in the Taranaki Daily News announcing that Mrs Ellis had moved to, " the new and up-to-date Nursing Home".
The maternity home closed in 1957 and was converted into a private residence. It is was later converted to a bed and breakfast and in 2023 appears to be available to large groups to rent for short-term stays.
