The Auroa War Memorial Hall on Auroa Road was officially opened by the local Minister of Lands, Mr E. B. Corbett on 3 March 1956. The multi-purpose building included a large auditorium, kitchen and supper room, a library and at the north-western end of the building Plunket Rooms. The original cost of the building was £7,000, however additional fittings had added another £2,000 to the cost, an amount the Auroa War Memorial Board was tasked with paying off.
The following day the hall was dedicated, and the memorial plaque unveiled. The granite plaque is located on a free-standing wall outside the memorial hall.
