The Matapu War Memorial was unveiled by Hāwera Mayor, Edwin Dixon, on 6 October 1920. The memorial was built by Mr H.W. Jones of Hāwera and is located in the grounds of Matapu School on the corner of Skeet and Hastings Roads.
