In 1946 the New Plymouth Borough Council approved an application from the New Plymouth RSA to place white crosses on the terraces opposite the Cenotaph.
Now 175 individual white wooden crosses of WWI and WWII dead, each with a name, rank and service number with awards, are placed on the lawn opposite the New Plymouth Cenotaph on Queen Street every ANZAC Day.
The crosses are held by the New Plymouth RSA. A list of those commemorated can be found here.
