This early 1900s James Sanderson designed corner villa makes an important contribution to the streetscape, and along with 115 Liardet Street, frames the entrance to Pukekura Park. The home is often photographed by tourists and is of a style of building now rare in New Plymouth.
A permit for a home on Town Section 1069 was granted by the Borough Council in September 1903, H. Kebbell was the client, James Sanderson was the architect, and the building had an estimated cost of £568.
During the 1954 royal tour, Mrs Dawn Allen the 'Blue Carnival Queen' and owner of the property at this time, had tiered seating constructed in her front section, and for 10/6 (adults) or 5/- (children over 2 years) spectators could watch the royal procession on its way to and from Pukekura Park.
