This two-storey building was the headquarters for the New Plymouth Harbour Board and was built in 1962.
It was designed by John Sutherland while he worked in the office of New Plymouth architect Ted Borell. The consulting engineers were Brodie and Thomson.
The upper storey was clad in an aluminium zip-on material called 'Fural' from Switzerland. The Board Room with a large window faced west onto the wharf. Glenburn bricks were used on the lower left-hand side of the building.
The building was demolished in 2010 to make way for further development of the port. Part of the first floor was removed and became a site office elsewhere in the area.
