This house on Tukapa Street was located opposite the entrance to Wallath Road. The exact date of construction is unknown as this part of Tukapa Street did not become part of New Plymouth City until an extension of the boundary in 1960 and no building permit exists.
The date of 1916 is based on Deposited Plan 3437 which created three allotments (of which this is Lot 1) from Sections 26 and 40 of the Fitzroy District. On 12 May 1916 a Certificate of Title (CT) was issued under Land Transfer Act to Frances Susan West, wife of Charles Alfred West.
In 1919 the property was bought by William Gordon Anstis, who lived here with his wife Catherine until his death in 1959 - Catherine died two years later in 1961. The ownership then passed to their son, Wilfred Gordon Anstis.
The house was moved off the site in 2023.
