This roughcast bungalow was constructed in 1917, with the architects being New Plymouth firm Messenger and Griffiths.

A permit for a residence on Town Section 1690, Ridge Lane, was granted to J. Paton in early November 1917 - Grayling was listed as the builder/contractor, and the estimated construction cost was £150. 

A copy of the original plans are held by NPDC

The home retains its original windows, and the exterior is largely unaltered.
