This house was probably constructed between 1899 and 1902. It isn't marked on DP1323, surveyed in June 1899 (other houses on the surveyed sections are indicated), and no permit can be found for the home in the NPBC building permit books (from 1902 onwards).

The section was originally part of the Education Reserves of New Plymouth, and DP1436, surveyed in February 1900, indicates that the Taranaki School Commissioners are still the occupiers of this section.
