A permit was granted by the Borough Council to Mrs F. W. Atkinson on 20 June 1925 for the construction of a residence on Section 7 of 12, Glen Almond Street - A. E. Kretschmar was the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £1100.
The house was designed by noted New Plymouth architects Messenger, Griffiths and Taylor, who called for tenders for the erection of a residence on the Glen Almond Estate for Mrs Atkinson in late May 1925.
