A permit was granted by the Borough Council to Alex M. MacDiarmid on 20 May 1915 for the construction of a residence on Pt B, Bracken Street – whilst the builder is not listed, the estimated construction cost was noted as £800.
The architects for the home were well known New Plymouth partnership Sanderson and Griffiths (James Sanderson and Victor Griffiths), who advertised for tenders for the construction of the home in February 1915.
