The offices of one of New Plymouth's oldest surviving timber/construction firms. Jones and Sandford were heavily involved in the construction of New Plymouth's most significant group of character homes - those constructed in the 1920s-30s.
A permit was granted to Jones and Sandford on 9 January 1929 for the construction of business premises on Section 25, Town Belt A, St Aubyn Street - Jones and Sandford were the builders, and the estimated construction cost was £500.
The building has significant streetscape value and is in largely original condition. It was shifted from its original position (fronting St Aubyn Street) in March 1996 to enable the company to redevelop the site.
