There are two tunnels on a spur near the Arnold Stream on the Whangamomona Road, both accessible by four-wheel drive, quad vehicle or on foot only down the Whangamomona River towards Aotuhia.

The road and its bridges are no longer maintained by the District Council, with maintenance at one point being funded by four-wheel drive clubs via a jar at the Whangamomona pub.

Tunnel #1 is located a few hundred metres from Road Tunnel #1, measuring approximately 20 metres long and is unusual for Taranaki road tunnels in having a semi-circular profile.
