This memorial was erected on Princes Street in Hawera, alongside the 1924 War Memorial arch, in the Year of the Veteran (2006) and dedicated to all servicemen and women who have served in conflicts or peace-keeping missions for New Zealand.

It was sponsored by Clegg's Funeral Services, Hawera and the illustrations on the base are taken from a mural in the RSA rooms painted by Eric W. Terrill.

A representative of South Taranaki Funeral Services (formerly Clegg's) has advised that the memorial was unveiled quietly on Anzac Day in 2006.
