Based on its style, this villa is estimated to have been constructed in the 1890s.

This villa is located in the original village of 'Westown'. The first sections were subdivided from a portion of prominent settler Peter Elliot's farm in 1879. At this time Tukapa Street was called 'Elliot Road', later to become 'Tukapo Street', and then finally 'Tukapa Street'.

A Certificate of Title (CT) was issued to Margaret Anne Slight Watson in 1919 for this section after it had been subdivided off from a larger block bordering what was then Elliott Road - owned by the nurseryman, Robert William James Davies (CT Vol 86/7). In 1982 the rear part of the section was subdivided off, leaving this house on Lot 1, DP13864.

The villa is clad in plain horizontal weatherboards, with four-pane and single-pane double hung sash windows.
