Arthur Kelso Davidson was born 8 July 1917, near Paeroa, Waikato. He was the son of James Cole Davidson and Emma Davidson and grew up in Tikorangi and New Plymouth before attending New Plymouth Boy's High School.
When World War Two broke out Arthur enlisted in Taranaki and registered his occupation as a sharemilker in Okoroire, Waikato. After several years of active service with the Divisional Cavalry Regiment in the Middle East, he was returned home to work as a tank instructor at Waiouru.
However after two years as an instructor he requested to return to active service and was sent to Italy and reunited with his old unit. His last rank was Lance Sergeant in 2 Divisional Cavalry 2NZEF. He was killed in action on 23 September 1944, aged 27 and is buried at Coriano Ridge War Cemetery, Italy.
