J. B. MacEwan Ltd Building (1917 - 1997)

This building was located on King Street and was built in 1917 for the farm machinery firm, J. B. MacEwan Ltd. Tenders were called for in April 1917 by the architect, Thomas H. Bates. A building permit was issued on 16 May 1917 to J.B. MacEwan, with the builders listed as Julian & Co., and the estimated cost was £3557. in November the company advertised that they had moved to the new building on King Street.  

The building was demolished after considerable controversy in 1997 to allow large vehicle access to the rear of TSB Showplace.
